Disappointing Poor Quality and Craftsmanship

My son received this as a Christmas gift. I was initially excited to see him open the gift because I had a Parris Cap rifle when I was a boy in the 1980s, and seeing him unwrap his gun brought back nostalgic memories from my childhood. I was expecting to see the same level of quality and workmanship, but boy was I ever disappointed when I took a closer look and saw the cheap painted wood, the flimsy stamped steel parts, and the overall shoddy craftsmanship of this cheaply made toy. The cap holder and firing mechanism was poorly designed, and the gun did not consistently fire the caps. After only a few times of playing with it, both hammers broke completely off. Then I noticed the “made in China” stamp on the gun. This was surprising because I had always thought Parris Manufacturing was an American Company located in Tennessee, with a proud history of quality American-made toy/replica cap guns dating back to the Second World War. I checked the website, but it said nothing about cheap Chinese made toys. Parris, you need to start paying attention again to the quality and design of your products. No kid deserves to have a brand new toy break within only a few days due to poor design and craftsmanship. There are other companies that still make high quality replica cap guns (like Dennix and Gonher), and while they may be more expensive, they will be getting my future business because I believe that quality is worth the price.
